Collaboration
The Peopletree Foundation’s work is pivoted on cooperation and collaboration with partner organisations principally in developing countries.
Most of its projects involve the artisan producer groups that Peopletree buys from. We back projects where the learning, materials, systems and technology developed can be both sustainable over the long term and shared with other groups and in other countries. We ensure they are tested in the field by people with whom we have close links, to ensure they are both practical and useful.

For larger projects we apply for grants and solicit major donations. Currently we are working with Christian Aid Bangladesh to develop Gender Awareness training for middle managers in textile and craft enterprises. Our single largest project was funded principally by the Department of International Development (now part of the UK Foreign Office). RAGS, which resulted in part in the Fair Trade Guidance we offer.
The Foundation also raises modest funds from the kind donations of Peopletree’s customers. These are often used for small emergency grants, as when a flood destroyed the computers of a project in Kenya that employs people with disabilities or recently for food relief following Covid shutdown through one of our partners in Delhi. Covid Emergency Support. We also collaborate with our sister charity Global Village, the charity arm of Peopletree in Japan. |
